Image of ingredients on a marble countertop for a Bacon Broccoli Quiche, featuring bowls of broccoli florets, shredded cheddar cheese, eggs, crispy bacon, a glass pitcher of half & half, and a rolled pie crust. A yellow napkin is partially visible.
    • Steamed broccoli is mixed with the eggs to add texture and nutrition to the quiche.
    • Eggs and half & half are whisked together to create the egg mixture that will be baked.
    • Cooked bacon adds a salty and savory element.
    • Shredded cheddar cheese is used to create a creamy quiche.
    • A store-bought pie crust is used as the crust.
    • Salt and black pepper (not photographed) add a little spice to the quiche.

Exact measurements are listed below in the recipe card.

    Variations

    • Make this quiche gluten-free by using making your own gluten-free pie crust or purchasing a pre-made gluten-free pie crust.
    • Make this quiche dairy free by using a non-dairy milk such as oat milk or coconut milk. Use a vegan cheese in place of the shredded cheddar cheese.
    • Make this quiche vegetarian by omitting the bacon. To add more protein to the quiche, you can replace the bacon with chopped mushrooms or use more fresh broccoli.
    • Enhance the flavor of the quiche by adding a dash of garlic powder or ground nutmeg.

    Substitutions

    • Make a homemade pie crust! Check out this All-Butter Pie Crust recipe.
    • For a creamier quiche, replace the half & half with heavy cream.
    • For a lighter quiche, replace the half & half with skim milk or a non-dairy milk alternative.
    • Switch up the protein. Use ground sausage or ham.
    • Change the vegetables. Use bell peppers or sautéed spinach.
    • Use your favorite cheese. Pepper jack cheese, parmesan cheese, Swiss cheese or mozzarella cheese would be delicious in this recipe.

    Equipment

    • Pie pan
    • Large mixing bowl
    • Whisk

    Step-by-Step Instructions

A clear glass pie dish filled with uncooked, unbaked pastry dough awaits the delicious filling of a bacon broccoli quiche. Its crimped edges frame it beautifully. A folded yellow kitchen towel adorned with a leaf pattern rests beside it on the light marble countertop.

Step 1: Spray a 9-inch pie plate with baking spray or grease the pan with butter. Place the pie crust into the pie pan.

Milk is being poured into a metal bowl containing cracked eggs, ready to whisk for a delicious bacon broccoli quiche.

Step 2: In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs and the half & half. Make sure that the egg yolks fully break and that the eggs are frothy and a light yellow color.

A stainless steel bowl contains a mixture of creamy liquid, shredded cheddar cheese, broccoli, creating the perfect foundation for a delectable Bacon Broccoli Quiche.

Step 3: Add the chopped bacon, broccoli florets, cheddar cheese. Season with salt and pepper. Stir together.

A pie crust filled with a creamy mixture of beaten eggs, broccoli, shredded cheese, and bacon bits, this Bacon Broccoli Quiche is ready for baking. A yellow patterned cloth is placed beside the dish on a marble countertop.

Step 4: Pour the egg mixture into the pie plate. Bake the quiche at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 40 minutes until the middle of the quiche is set.

    Top tip

Pre-cook the bacon and broccoli! This will save you time when making the quiche. Either bake the bacon in the oven or fry. Lightly steam the broccoli. By doing this ahead of time, the quiche can be assembled in less than 10 minutes.

    Storage

Store leftover quiche refrigerated covered with plastic wrap. Reheat quiche in the microwave for 30-45 seconds or in the oven. Note, microwaving can cause the crust to become soggy.

Freeze any leftover quiche wrapped in aluminum foil or in an airtight container. Thaw quiche in the refrigerator overnight and reheat in the oven or microwave.

    FAQ

How can I precook the broccoli?

Pre-cook the broccoli by lightly steaming the broccoli. The broccoli should be tender but not mushy. In my opinion, the easiest way to steam broccoli is in the microwave. Simply add the chopped broccoli to a small bowl. Add about a tablespoon of water, microwave for 3-5 minutes and drain any excess water. For this quiche, I microwaved the broccoli for 3 minutes because the broccoli would continue to cook in the oven.

How should the bacon be cooked for this broccoli bacon quiche recipe?

The bacon should be cooked until it is cooked through (no longer raw) but not yet crispy. I recommend lightly frying the bacon and placing the bacon on a paper towel to remove excess bacon grease.

How can I prepare this bacon broccoli

Make this quiche ahead of time by mixing together all of the ingredients and adding the egg mixture to the bottom of the pie crust. Refrigerate until you are ready to cook. While the oven is preheating, remove the quiche from the refrigerator allowing it to come to room temperature. The quiche may take a few more minutes to cook.

How should I serve this quiche?

If serving this quiche for breakfast, serve it alongside fresh fruit and a yogurt parfait. For lunch, this quiche can be served alongside a fresh salad. For special occasions, serve with roasted potatoes.
