This chili recipe is made in a crockpot or a slow cooker. I use ground venison but this can also be made with ground beef, ground turkey or even ground elk!

STEP 1: Heat a large pan over medium high heat with EVOO. Once hot, add ground meat, mushrooms, pepper and onions. Brown meat and mix together vegetables. 

STEP 2: Add ground meat and vegetable mixture to a large crockpot or slow cooker. 

STEP 3: Add black beans, baked beans, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce and tomato paste to the crockpot. Stir ingredients together. 

STEP 4: Add seasonings to crockpot. Seasonings include chili powder, paprika, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper. I also use brown sugar for a hint of sweetness.

STEP 5: Stir together all ingredients. Cook on low for 6-8 hours.  Serve with corn bread.  Top chili with sour cream, shredded cheese and jalapenos.
