THE BEST VENISON LASAGNA (USING COTTAGE CHEESE)

Most ingredients are pantry staples. The most important is the ground venison (deer meat) and the ground Italian sausage.

Start by sautéing the white onion, mushrooms and garlic cloves together. 

Then, add in the meat. Add the ground venison and ground italian sauage.  Break apart meat and combine together as it browns. 

Next, add the diced tomatoes, crushed tomatoes and tomato paste. Stir to combine. Simmer for 30-40 minutes.  This create the meat layer. 

Meanwhile, make the cheese layer by combining cottage cheese, parmesan cheese, eggs, dried basil and dried oregano.

Finally, layer the lasagna. Begin with the pasta noodles, meat sauce and then cheese sauce. Repeat 2-3 times.  Finish with mozzarella cheese on top. 

Bake at 350 degrees Farenheit for 25-30 minutes until the top is hot and bubbly.  Remove from oven and let cool for 10 minutes before slicing.
